The first week of November found LEAD XXIX Fellows sharpening their communication skills at their "Leadership Through Communications" seminar. The seminar was hosted at the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus with our appreciation to Chancellor Doug Kristensen. During the seminar, the Fellows completed various communication exercises as assigned by campus coordinator Dr. William Jurma, Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Humanities at UNK. The group also experienced mock interviews with members of the local television, newspaper and radio media.

The group received a briefing by Ann Marie Bosshamer, Executive Director of the Nebraska Beef Council. Ms. Bosshamer stressed the importance of those in agriculture speaking up on behalf of their industry. She also explained the Beef Checkoff Program noting that funds are used strictly for education, research and promotion--no dollars can be used for lobbying purposes. Shown in this photo are LEAD Fellow and UNK graduate, Cody Weitzenkamp (l) and Chancellor Doug Kristensen welcoming our group to UNK.
